A & Z Reserves FC vs NK Dons FC
Guest Post by James Sargeant
With the recent arsenal-esque capitulation fresh in their memory, the Dons were able looking to further their impressive cup run. However their opponents, heralding from the league above would certainly be no walkover. The game itself was also called into question with continued pitch inspections by the match officials, due to a frozen pitch. However under much pressure from both sides the officials agreed to let the game kick off.
NK Dons FC vs Longfield Athletic FC
Guest Post by Jamie Swain
The NK Dons Christmas break was cut short as their rearranged game with league leader, Longfield Athletic, took precedents. The rivalry between these two clubs dates back to their founding years. Both Clubs were founded in mid 2010, during a period of economic downturn both nationally and globally; when you consider both originated from the same part of Longfield also, you begin to see the similarities in the make up of the clubs. Their first season in the league produced two 1-1 draws, and a semi final meeting also mustered the same result (with Longfield winning by virtue of a penalty shootout). Longfield finished the season above NK Dons on goal difference as the rivalry continued to develop on the pitch.

The saying goes, “if you don’t buy a ticket you wont win the lottery,” and as the Dons approach the winter months of their season they are beginning to find that they may have bought too many tickets. Having been knocked out of two cups, they now find themselves up against the same higher division opponents two weeks on the trot in two seperate cup competitions.
NK Dons FC vs Northfleet United FC

After an undeserved cup exit the Dons looked to bounce back against Northfleet United and reignite their league campaign. The Dons could be forgiven for thinking this match would be a walk over. The previous meeting between the two teams resulted in a Dons 3-0 win with ample chances to get into the double digits. Today would not be as smooth sailing.

A big week for the dons on and off the pitch!!!! Or by the look of some of the players and fans no names (Kelly Ackary and Karen Hensler) a big night / big date and I’m not talking size 18 (Phil Sewell) the night before the game.
With training cancelled at the last minute due to Dan ‘you owe us a jug’ Fowler having a date, Chris Wade was unable to crock any players for today’s line up and so extend his lead in the dons fantasy league as he has done in previous weeks. In fact with Chris turning up late claiming he forgot the clocks went forward when they actually went back, he then tried to claim our Iranian friend was trying to hack his work computers and he was on call???? A place on the bench for Chris Wade the Fantasy League leader was the result. Was anyone going to be able to take advantage?

I woke up late and had to drive myself because Phil and his dad drove Jamie, Vinnie and Dan. That made me angry!!! Then I played smackers for 90 minutes.
Then I went to the Swan. I was still angry.
NK Dons FC vs Rye Park FC

The Dons went into this game looking to extend their recent good form, dreaming of a cup final run to Wembley. The current record for fans taken to the new Wembly (and indeed the old) by one team is held by Millwall Football Club; but if today’s turn out from the home team is anything to go by we may see that record brokenn in the not so distance future.

The Dons arrived, late as usual with the exception of Nash and with chairman Swain once again blaming the British rail network for the transport related debacle that is becoming a regular feature of the Dons campaign. For the Dons this would be their first venture into cup football against a team who have also been struggling for wins of late in division three.
Notable absentees were Nick Oakley who was out with a case of under the thumbness by his other/better half and fans favourite Luke Vint who had a ‘bruisey-woosey’ on knee.
The Boat FC vs NK Dons FC
Guest Post by Vinnie Chick
Recently returned centre back Gray earns the NK Dons a point away at the Boat with the last kick of the game, as the Boat keeper spills the ball from a Chris Wade cross.
The Centre back saved the Dons from their second loss of the season, lashing the ball over the line in injury time to equal the score line at 2-2 on the hottest day of October since records began.
NK Dons FC vs Gravesend Spartans FC
Guest Post by Luke Vint
The Dons had to play for the first time one of the 3 other teams that made the big step up from Division 4 to Division 3. The game would see another epic encounter unfold between the mighty Dons and Gravesend Spartans.

It was a rather sunny warm Sunday when the Dons arrived atSpringheadPark, no hangovers for the Dons squad this time but the pitch did look as though it had been on the sauce the night before due to it’s slight inclining hill. With the last of the non-believers acknowledging the Earth is not flat it, a double blow for those would be on the cards as the Dons would prove they do not always concede early goals

The continued absence of last season’s top scorer, Vint, meant the pressure on last seasons 2nd top scorer, Wade, was a heavy burden. Sadly Wade was unable to live up to Vint’s exceptional talents which meant the Dons would have to warm up with no footballs and scavenge pegs for the nets. In this regard the return of Vint will not come a moment too soon.

Tiger AFC vs NK Dons FC
And so it begins.
On a damp, fresh morning NK Dons stepped out to rapturous applause from their 3 travelling fans to take on Tiger Athletic FC. A somewhat unknown entity, Tiger are a newly formed team, looking to make their own mark this season in the North Kent Sunday League: Division 3.
Longfield Athletic vs NK Dons

The Don’s final game of the season was an opportunity to win the league, an impressive feat for any team in their first full season. But more than an opportunity the last game of the season – “The Longfield Derby” – was an opportunity to reminist of the past season. Que Vint turning up with the most untimely rugby injury he could muster, que Gray having booked off a holiday 9 months ago which would unfortunately rule him out of the last game of the season. More interesting was that Captain Marvel-hill had a surprise wedding to attend which conveniently rule him out. With the Dons missing the spine of their team the supporters who turned out in force for this game could be forgiven for thinking the Dons had no chance of signing off with a win and subsequent silverware.
The Works vs NK Dons
Guest Post by James Sargeant
As the season draws to a close, the Dons are left knowing that only victory in both of their remaining games would give them a realistic chance of winning the league. And with the eagerly anticipated Longfield derby rapidly approaching the Dons would be eager to keep up their impressive end to the season.
NK Dons vs Kent Aces

Dons fans turned up literally in their thousands to Longfield Academy on a bright Sunday morning full of hope and anticipation at what this game would bring and keen to avoid the trouble in which their first encounter conjured up. Of course all of the top four would be in action against one another today in what had been aptly named ‘The most super of super Sunday’s.’ A key moment with regard to the title ambitions of all involved.
Gravesend Spartans vs NK Dons

The Don’s, who have never given up on their title hopes, were rocked by two withdrawals prior to kick off in their S.O.S match (save our season). Whilst james Sargeant had gone AWOL, Goalkeeper Dave Winstone had been hit by a stomach bug, making a hatrick of withdrawls for the inspirational keeper, and fuelling speculation of his dismay at the Dons. Thankfully reserve goalkeeper Phil Sewell answered a late call up.

The Dons arrived at the ‘Theatre of Scum’ top of the form table and in the knowledge that their next three games would define their season with all of those games coming against teams that were also challenging for the title.
This meant that it was imperative that the Dons came away with the full multitude of points on offer if they were to catch Gravesend Spartans who were seamlessly and somewhat bafflingly running away 6 points clear of their nearest rivals.
